Turning my attention to barbel seem to be the right decision as my first real session resulted in this beauty of 12lbs 1oz!

The barbel was taken from a swim on the River Loddon that had been located a few days before when I decided to have a lead around in the hope of finding some clear spots within a normally weedy stretch. My effort was rewarded but not until the disappointment of losing a double after just ten minutes from a hookpull. Placing my bait back in the same position soon produced another bite in which the barbel picked up his 13mm Sonu Halibut pellet which had added attraction around it as the lead was
covered in scalded pellets.
