With the conditions being so bad over xmas the only thing that I fancied doing was a bit of Perch fishing.

The rivers were carrying alot of cold water and most of the pits and lakes were frozen over but on the south coast there is a pit that very rarely goes stiff.
Myself and Adrian Smith started off in the northern corner of the lake because the high bank behind us kept the freezing wind off us but after four biteless hours we had to move into the teeth of the wind to an area where I had caught from in the past.
Even though it was numbingly cold sitting in the wind I had a bite first cast resulting in a cracking fish of 2lb 12oz.We finish that day with 6 fish a piece with only one of my fish being under two pounds. However I also had two fish over three pounds.
Over the next few days I managed to land 3 fish over 3lb and 10 2lbers.Not bad going considering the conditions and on one evening this 40 acre lake even started to freeze.
Much better than sitting indoors watching the rubbish on the TV. I will leave that to the carp anglers whose waters were all frozen over.
