Retail Manager, Kevin Charman (45) from Yateley in Hampshire, tackled Farnham Angling Societies, Tarn Pond for what he had heard were huge crucians.

Kevin float fished all night, but it wasn't until first light that he landed what he was hoping to be a dream fish, and at 4lbs 7oz it would have been if it had turned out to be a true crucian. Unfortunately it was unanimous between father Tony, son Duncan and Kevin that the fish was actually a hybrid. Kevin used a 15ft Preston Carbonactive rod, PXR 3000 reel loaded with 3lb Maxima, a small pole float, with a size 18 Korum S3 hook baited with a single grain of sweetcorn taken from a tin of Sonubaits 'new' Hemp 'N' Corn which he fed throughout the session. Kevin said at first l thought it was a tench as it didn't even fight like a crucian but l have to be happy as it was an immaculate fish and a new personal best however it would have been far sweeter had it been a crucian.
