spacer Ton Up Expanders Are The Business - Steve Saunders   21 OCTOBER 2008

Sonubaits' Ton Up Expanders have helped me pocket some money down at White Acres this autumn and I'd just like to share with you my approach to pole fishing these deadly pellets.

On the Maver Festival recently, I won my section at Bolingey with 81lb of carp, and I caught all my fish using the 6mm Ton Ups, which sell for £2.99 a bag.
The rig comprised a PB13 in a 4 x 16 size, fished in nine feet of water. The shotting was simplicity itself. I pinched on a number 10 shot six inches from the PR32 size 16 hook, positioned another number 10 six inches above that, and then six inches above that created  a split bulk of number eight shots, all just a couple of millimetres apart.
The float was fished on Preston Power Line 0.15mm diameter, straight through, and it was a case of making bites by lifting and dropping constantly, once the hookbait was in the water. I used a Preston Cad Pot
on the tip of my Genis GIS 12 pole to feed between half-a-dozen and 10, 6mm feed pellets, sparingly, to keep the carp interested.
The Ton Up expanders are my favourites because they have a lovely, fibrous make-up, which means once pumped they don't start to turn to mush. They keep their pellet shape well and they stay on the hook well, too.
Preparing them is a doddle. I put the required amount into my pellet pump, give them a pump and then leave them in the pump, submerged in the water, for 10 minutes. I then drain the excess water off them and transfer them to a plastic bag, which I leave open on my sidetray.
And that's it.
