Next stop was to complete a feature set by Coarse fisherman magazine, a task of catching my first Zander.

The day dawned bright and clear, not ideal Zander conditions. Arriving at the fishery early afternoon and meeting with David De Vere reports were good as some big Zander had been caught over the previous weeks. He pointed us in the right direction and we soon headed to our respected areas. 

The trip was a success and between us we caught 5 Zander, with Duncan leading the way with three fish and myself landing two the best weighing 7lb 8oz. I will let him tell his own account of the trip on his excellent blog, but I’m sure we both agree that a surprise bream falling to a large lump of sprat shocked us both however, it made a great photo. I must say a big thanks to Duncan for taking some great pictures. A very enjoyable trip and I cant wait to get back to Bury Hill soon.
