I've had a cracking couple of weeks' fishing, topped off by setting a new venue record for Geary's Lake at the Packington Somers complex - and Sonu One To One Original Green Paste helped me set tne new benchmark.
I have found that this paste makes ann excellent base for a Method feeder mix, using two parts micro pellets, one part paste and two parts water. It is best mixed the night before a match but if done on the day, make sure you allow an hour for the particles to absorb all the water.
On the match I drew peg 11 on the high bank and here there are wooden posts sticking out of the water some 80 to 90 yards out. These are markers for a gravel bar which is an obvious fish attractor, but you need some serious gear to reach it.
I set up my Preston Innovations Dutch Master 12ft 8inch rod, teamed with a Preston Innovations Inception 4000 reel loaded with 8lb Korum reel line. On the business end was a 45 gram Preston method feeder and I hair-rigged pieces of luncheon meat on a PR38 hook. It was a horrible day, weather-wise and I needed to stand up to punch the feeder out through a head-on wind to my chosen mark between the posts. After 15 minutes I hooked my first carp and from then on the peg just got stronger and stronger. My winning weight of 149lb 14oz was treble the weight of the runner-up.
I was delighted to smash the record and I cannot wait for the bi final at Barston!
