With the recent mild conditions only dropping of a degree or two over the next few nights, I decided to make the most of the situation and place myself in the area where the big girls live, and try a new approach of Boosted Wraps

The first swim that produced knocks last week in the floods delivered no indications so I dropped in a swim upstream, one that has produced the odd barbel in the past.

I’ve eaten my words and decided to fish two rods today, wherever possible, although I hate the problems that they create. This is because the pellet attack has slowed up and I’ve decided to switch to sonubaits Boosted Wraps which are boilies covered in high leakage paste.

The upstream rod produces in this swim, a chub of 4lbs 9oz and again in the next swim, although they are both bream, they are at least fish I would have not have normally caught. The next swim that normally produces the big ones, produces a bite to the downstream rod and my heart misses a beat but although it’s my best ever chub from this river, 2oz short of my P.B at 5lbs 13oz, its not what I’m looking for. Its amazing how big ounces are as if it was just three ounces bigger I would have been doing cartwheels home! 

Wednesday saw a return as a cold front is approaching for Thursday. Arrived early afternoon and returned to the area that had produced the majority of fish before the turn of the New Year. This was more of a confidence boost to show that my tactics were right, as the move to a new area where fewer but bigger fish show had proved slightly barren of barbel of late. The move certainly answered the questions as a few hours in a barbel was landed of 10lbs 6oz plus a chub of 4lbs 12oz. The Boosted Wrap approach certainly seems to be paying off.
