A very slow week in which time was spent in pursuit of Frenshams big rudd as well as another big eels from my recently discovered water.

Unfortunately Frensham has seemed to have closed up with plenty of rudd showing after dark as well as plenty of tench bubbling over the groundbait during the morning but without a doubt both species are pre-occupied with naturals that must be at a premium at this time of year. The odd small rudd that do come along are egged up so spawning maybe another contributing factor for the lack of action.
The eels have also gone extremely quiet and not one run has come since the big one was taken. Once again the unsettled weather maybe something to do with this, the other solution is that the water contains very few eels and that they have wised up very quickly. I doubt that this is the answer believing that conditions have to be perfect for them to feed and when they do the whole lakes population go on a feeding frenzy, however the lack of action on both lakes mean only one thing, time to move on so its up the Thames to see if the carp are in a feeding mood.
