spacer 188lb on Tiger fish groundbait - Mick Stamp   19 MAY 2011

I’ve just had a great day’s sport at Mallory Park at the Ivan Marks memorial match and it’s all thanks to Sonubaits’ new Tigerfish groundbait.

Recently, I have had some great results using Tigerfish; feeding it damp and loose in the margins in the later stages of matches. It just seems to bring the big fish in sooner than conventional loose feeding and when they turn up they seem to feed aggressively obviously competing for the groundbait.

In the match itself after a couple of hours I started my margins off with 2 big Preston pots of Tigerfish Groundbait, then topped it up about every 15 minutes. With 2 hours of the match remaining I probably had about 60lb of carp, it was time to look down the margins and I never looked back- catching carp between 5 and 12lb in weight- after every couple of fish giving it another big pot of Tigerfish Groundbait, then fishing a large dendrabena worm on a size 14 pr 29 hook. Some of the bites were so aggressive they were ripping my elastic out. I ended up with 188lb of carp and 2nd on the day, it was a great day’s fishing but I was gutted at being so close to winning Ivan’s match twice; a 201lb weight won the match and I was only a couple of fish short. In hindsight, it was probably my own fault, as I’d fed the whole 2 kilo bag of Tigerfish and in the last half hour I was getting low on bait. I cut down on how regularly I was potting in and as a result my bites slowed; proving to me how effective it was at pulling fish into my peg.

Give Tigerfish a try down the edge, it’s awesome. Now the guys at Sonubaits have developed corresponding pellets and pastes, it has certainly given me an edge (if you’ll pardon the pun).
