I am a confidence angler and I tend to stick with things that fill me with optimism – and one product I never leave home without is Sonubait’s Supercrush Green groundbait, which I used to win a Maver Pairs match at Monk Lake.
I had drawn a corner peg, which is always good on a commercial fishery, and in the first hour I rattled out 40lb of F1s and mirror carp on a small groundbit feeder filled with hemp and corn and plugged with a little Sonubaits Supercrush Green.
After an hour I switched my attention to the margin, fishing 11 metres to my left. I had primed the swim with potfuls of Sonubaits Superscent corn and Sonubaits Superscent Hempseed, with the occasional ball of Sonubaits Supercrush Green groundbait also being introduced to create a lingering green cloud in the water.
I ended up weighing in 180lb to win the match individually, although my partner had a bit of a nightmare in his section, which put paid to our hopes of a place in the final at Larford.
My pole rig incorporated a 13H Hollo elastic on a Pulla kit, with 0.15mm Preston Innovations Power Line straight through to a size 16 Preston PR21, with a piece of corn being the killer hookbait.
It was a busy old match as the mirror carp averaged between 2lb and 4lb, with the odd F1 thrown in.
I just feel rally comfortable using Sonubaits Supercush Green as I believe that it works as a feeding trigger.
A few weeks later I was back at the same lake and I used a pole rig at five metres, feeding Sonubaits Supercrush Green with corn and I had 124lb of carp at five metres for second place overall.
I’m having a very good year and a lot of it is down to my total belief in the pulling power of Sonubaits Supercrush Green.
