A few hours on a Saturday morning is rare but with pike on my mind it was back to Cemex K1 however with the big girl still sitting under the tree my only two runs were from modest pike of around eight-pounds, one landed and one lost.

Returning on Monday the big girl’s no where to be seen and with three runs coming in the short session l was hoping she maybe obliging but once again all the fish were ranging from seven to just over ten pounds, great fun but not exactly what lm after.
Wednesday it was once again feature material, however it was a first time to Cemex Woolwich Green and with good friend Steve Ansell in tow, we enjoyed a frustrating but eventually rewarding day. Sometimes knowing that you’ve worked at it and eventually come home with a fish or two in the net is better than those rare red-letter days and this was one such occasion. I was determined to try the Preston Method Mould out and sticking to my guns managed two carp and a bream on a difficult day. Alternating between maggot, S-Pellets and corn as hookbait and with Sonubaits Method mix as groundbait finally was rewarded on a water that had seen some nine feet of water added to its three-acres in just five weeks. Steve had crept around the margins all day baiting a few spots with Sonubaits Hemp & Corn and eventually succeeded with two doubles to 17lb plus on freelined meat.
Thursday it was back to Bury Hill Fisheries, however with highs of fifteen throughout the day then dropping to below freezing soon after dark I was more there for a social with Alan Stag than to catch fish. I bite would be a result and soon after casting a piece of sardine hair-rigged next to a size 6 Korum S3 hook on a low resistance running rig managed a small zander to the discussed of a few regulars that had been their all day, fishless. Just into darkness Alan’s only run produced another big fish and at 10lb 12oz. I think he’s thinking he’s becoming a good, big fish zander expert, personally l just think he’s just a jammy bugger!
