Team Sonubaits DELCAC have been concentrating all our efforts at Kent’s Monk lakes recently, fishing the practice opens in preparation for the Angling Times Winter League semi final on the 6th of March.

The match this last weekend bought success for some of the team, lead by young star Robbie Taylor. Robbie won the 83 peg match with 89lb of small Mirror Carp and F1’s all caught on the pole and Sonubait 4mm Fin Perfect feed pellet combination.The team have been preparing the pellets as described in the recent blog by Sean Clifford. This allows us to use the same pellets on the hook as well as for feeding.  We are certain that this helps to fool the wary fish in the extreme weather conditions that have hit this part of the country recently.

The softened pellets stay on the hook really well allowing us to work the bait to induce bites. Fished in conjunction with a very light rig, normally a 4x12 or 4x14 Preston Innovations Chianti. Depending on depth, and a strung out shotting pattern, the bites are often very finicky but with this set up we are hitting the majority of them.

This win for Robbie has also put him up to 3rd in the Kamasan Matchman of the year competition. Showing what a great young angler he is. In the same match Derek Gladwin came 3rd with 56lb and Jon Parks was 4th with 50lb 6oz. Hopefully the team can continue to catch well and qualify for the final again.
