What a poor week for angling. After the previous warm spell, night time temperatures have dropped away resulting in ground frosts on two occasions. The predominantly north wind has dropped daytime temperatures down considerably and the high pressure sees atmospherics’ hovering around 1028mb, far from ideal.
My first session of the week was more of a social and was spent with my brother at Badshot Lea big Pond. Arriving at 8pm, l could only fish till midnight due to a feature the following day at Tri-Lakes. At 11-30pm l called it a day, as the lake seemed dead. Kevin stayed on and at 1-30am the cats switched on with him catching six, all on the worm medusa, unfortunately the biggest was just 10lb, but he still found time to wind me up!
Wednesday it was of to Tri-lakes to complete the TCF feature, however the conditions had put the fish down, and the lakes that are normally heaving with carp once again seemed lifeless. Try l did but l was lucky to spot a fish, let alone get a bite!
Thursday l was back and after staying on after closing time managed to stalk a double figured common on a piece of Sonubaits sweetcorn taken from a tin of Hemp ‘N’ Corn used to prime a few spots throughout the afternoon session.
