spacer My Killer Method Mix Plus Fin Perfect Feed Pellets   17 JULY 2008
spacer spacer spacer

Method fishing on commercial fisheries is playing a bigger part in my match fishing all the time and I have now developed a feed idea incorporating SonuBaits Fin Perfect Mix 1, plus Fin Perfect 2mm Feed pellets.

In my formative days fishing the Method, I found the best way was to mould Fin Perfect Mix 1 groundbait around the frame, leaving the hookbait bait as the only bait the carp could actually eat.
This tactic works well on many occasions, but I wanted to look at introducing a steady stream of feed into my peg, because in match fishing it is important to keep the fish in front of you, not letting them stray to the angler on the next peg.
I had heard about anglers using just pellets around the frame, but I found this soon introduced too much feed into the peg and bites became impossible to hit as the fish became pre-occupied.  This got me thinking about combining the two!
After much experimenting, I have found the best approach is to first squeeze SonuBaits Fin Perfect Mix 1 around a Korum Method feeder, then place your hook-bait and a pinch of soaked Fin Perfect 2mm pellets in your hand and squeeze them on top of the groundbait.
The pellets quickly break down, creating enough feed to keep carp and F1s constantly in your peg, without overfeeding.
As for hook-baits, I have found that a banded, hair-rigged hard 6mm Fin Perfect pellet works well, although I have been catching a lot of fish using the new Sonu fishmeal paste pellets.
They start to break down in the water, creating a soft hook-bait that carp cannot resist. Simply hair rig them with a Korum Quick Stop, in conjunction with 0.19mm Preston Powerline and a Preston size 16 PR36 hook, then hold on to your rod!
