I've just had a very enjoyable match victory at the Highams Lane Fishery in Leicestershire where I caught 90lb of fighting-fit carp using a floating feeder which had a mixture of Sonubaits' Match Method Mix and Sonubaits' Fin Perfect 1mm Feed Pellets wrapped around its base.
In the past I have seen people using a light, cloudy groundbait mix around the floating feeder, with maize involved in the groundbait make-up to create bits that would stay suspended up in the water.
But I reckon that Sonubaits' Match Method Mix is miles better, after a few experimental sessions.
Anyway, on this particular day I had been fishing a pellet waggler towards an island and, in all honesty, I was not doing very well at all. But I could see fish cruising about just under the surface in the open water, so I decided to change tactics and go for a floating feeder with pellets in a groundbait moulded to a spiral coil on the feeder's base.
Suspended about 18 inches underneath the floating feeder was a lump of Sonubaits' Fibre paste.
I also incorporated a short, two-inch-long piece of pole elastic between the floating feeder and the hooklength, to avoid being smashed on the take. I find that you can keep wetting Sonu Match Method Mix until it becomes really sticky, and when the floating feeder hits the water it creates a brilliant oily cloud, because of the crushed hemp content, but enough stays around the base of the feeder for the fish to attack.
Anyway, from the first cast, I had to keep hold of the rod because the fish started hitting the Sonu Fibre paste with some gusto and there was never a need to strike, it was a case of hanging on!
On the subject of Sonubaits Match Method Mix, if I am fishing it on a Method feeder, this is what I do to create my perfect Sonubaits Match Method Mix mixture.
Take two parts of 1mm Sonu Fin Perfect Feed Pellets, one part Sonu Match Method Mix and two parts water. Chuck the lot in a bucket, give it a mix around and leave it while you tackle up.
It goes stodgy but when you rub it between your hands it breaks down to a superb pellety crumb that does not need riddling or sieving, and the consistency is perfect for moulding around a Method feeder every time. Give it a try and see your fishing results go through the roof!
