When Dorking were preparing for the Division One National on the River Trent, I used a few Sonubaits products in the run-up to the event, and a 50-50 combination of Sonubaits' Supercrush Green and Sonubaits' F1 groundbait helped me to a very handy third overall on one 120-peg match.
I drew in the noted Weir Field at Holme Marsh, on peg 8, and knew that bream could show up, as well as the odd barbel.
I tackled up a Preston Innovations Dutch Master 12ft 8" feeder rod, coupled with a PXR4000 reel loaded withthe new Preston Innovations Pro Max Power feeder line which is blue- coloured.
With a line diameter of .30mm, I reckon the breaking strain is around 12lb, and on the Weir Field pegs with barbel always a possibility, you need to gear up accordingly.
I had a free-running 50g open ended Preston feeder and a hooklength of .17mm Preston Powerline, with a PR36 hook, tied on knotless knot-style, but with the hair trimmed right down.
Redworm was the hookbait, with chopped worm and caster fed through the feeder. The groundbait mix was a simple 50-50 mix of Sonubaits' Supercrush Green and the company's F1 groundbait. I have supreme confidence in these two groundbaits when mixed together, when bream are the target.
I was casting around 65 to 70 yards out and had my first fish, a bream of 5lb, after 50 minutes. I then caught two other bream and a barbel sporadically through the match, though I lost around 90 minutes fishing time when the pontoons which span the river here moved in front of my peg, making casting out impossible.
Try Sonu's Supercrush Green and F1 as a groundbait combination - they work really well and you will draw bream into your swim - guaranteed!
