I used to mix up quite a concoction of groundbaits to make a decent Method mix but now, thanks to Sonu’s Tigerfish groundbait, I don’t have to – and I’ve totally fallen in love with it.
Tigerfish was developed by Tommy Pickering and is a blend of tigernuts, pellets and fishmeals crushed into a groundbait for carp. As the tigernuts are crushed they release their natural sugars and oils which make the mix go sticky when mixed with water.
Tigerfish is best mixed overdamp as it absorbs liquid well, and I tend to mix mine the night before a match. In the morning if it has dried out a little bit, I’ll simply add some more water and give it a spin with a whisk.
I used it recently to win a match at Hartleylands. I was using a small 30g inline Method feeder from Preston Innovations, teamed with the company’s excellent 10’ CarbonActive Mini carp feeder rod.
The reel was loaded with 8lb line and the hookbait, on a PR38 hook from the Preston Innovations range, was presented with either dead red maggots or a banded, hair-rigged hard Sonu Fin Perfect 6mm or 8mm pellet. Hooklength material was 0.19 Preston Powerline.
In a nutshell, I wrapped Sonu Tigerfish neat around the Method feeder, using the Preston Innovations Method mould and had a busy old day, weighing a total of 185lb of carp for a memorable win, casting the feeder some 30 turns.
So the message is clear and simple. If you love Method feeder fishing, give Sonu Tigerfish groundbait a go. You’ll be impressed.
