I’ve just won a match at Lake Ross near Spalding, with 78LB of F1’s and small carp, using 4mm Fin perfect expanders pumped with the new F1 additive.
These expanders are the best I have ever used for winter F1 fishing, perfect texture and colour. All I do when I get to my peg is put some lake water in the pellet pump and add a squirt of F1 additive a handful of fin 4mm expanders, I give them a pump and by the time I’m tackled up they are ready. Perfect every time. What could be simpler?
On the day, rig wise I used PB inter 1’s in 0.2 and 0.3, with a spread bulk of 11 stotz on 0.13 power line, to a 0.10 hook length with an 18 PR 24 hook. The elastic was a number 8 latex on a pull bung. The F1’s at lake Ross are very finicky, I found it best to fish 2 lines at 14m (2 o’clock and 10 o’clock) and alternate between the 2. Feeding small amounts of dampened down 2mm fin perfect feed pellets. One line will always produce more fish than the other but at this time of year don’t be tempted to over fish it, still keep alternating the lines. Feed one line fish the other. On the day a lot of anglers just fish one line. They catch well for a couple of hours then sit the rest of the match without a bite. Winter carping is not a race, take your time and make every fish count. In the end I had 38 fish in 5 hours. On average 7 fish an hour, not a bad day’s sport! Considering, we started the day with the first, hard frost of this winter.
So give the new F1 additive a try, I have also caught bream and skimmers using it, not just F1’s!
