Monday night was spent on Cemex Littleton North in the hope of completing a feature however the desired big roach never showed in fact it was extremely slow with just two small eels falling.

The rest of the week was swallowed up with work so it wasn’t until Friday night that an unexpected night became available. Heading towards my beloved Frensham Pond I found the lake relatively quiet and slotted back into my favourite swim that’s always been good to me, and once again it didn’t disappoint. Starting at 5pm it took nearly two hours to get sorted, much of the time spent spodding maggots and Sonubaits hemp.
Finally casting out it took all of ten minutes for the maggot to be picked up and the alarm scream, however what ever it was failed to get hooked. Soon after this a rudd came to the net followed by a bigger one weighing 2lbs 6oz along with another half a dozen.
Thinking that it was going to be easier and more enjoyable I changed to the float and over the next two hours took a number of good perch and rudd including another of 2lbs 6oz before the swim died. Changing back to the feeders during darkness it wasn’t long before my third specimen rudd graced my net, and once again it weighed 2lbs 6oz. The odd rudd came during the night but with temperatures falling away to single figures so did the rudd action.
