It’s been very difficult to go anywhere and catch any fish in the recent Arctic freeze that descended on Britain over the Christmas period - but Sonubaits' brilliant F1 Groundbait did the trick for me.
Despite the horrific Arctic conditions affecting sport for many anglers over the festive period, I did manage to go pleasure fishing on a local lake near my home in the Bristol area and I caught a lovely net of skimmers between 3oz and 5oz, using a wettish mix of Sonu F1 groundbait sprinkled in on the pole, with 3mm and 4mm Sonu Baits Fin Perfect expander pellets as the hookbait.
I found that the 3mm expanders worked particularly well for the skimmers. It took a little while to get them feeding really confidently and I had to fish about three feet away from where I fed the Sonu F1 groundbait. But after a couple of hours they were feeding in earnest and it was a case of one every put in.
Tackle-wise I used the new Preston Innovations Gis 14 Absolute pole with a single strand of Preston Slip Original elastic through the top three sections. A PB Inter 7 pole float completed the tackle set-up with a bulk of numbe rnine shot and a couple of number 10s droppers. The hooklength was 0.10mm Preston Exceed finished off with a size 20 Preston Innovations PR30 hook. Try Sonu F1 Groundbait this winter. Fish love it!
