I don’t know about regular readers of the Sonu website – but have you tried the Supercrush Green Groundbait, because as far as bream and carp are concerned, I think it is unbeatable.
In May I used it to devastating effect to win the two-day Bury Hill Festival. On Day One I drew peg 27 and opted to fish the pole at 14.5 metres. I rigged up a 4 x 16 float with a bulk and a single dropper and tied on a size 16 PR21 hook, baited with a Sonu 6mm Ton Up expander pellet.
My opening gambit was to pot in three balls of Supercrush Green, directly in front of me, and a cupful of 2mm Fin Perfect Micro Feed Pellets three yards to the left in my second swim at 14.5 metres.
Using the same rig, I kept both swims going all day and tipped 127 of bream from one-and-a-half to four pounds on to the scales. I think I had around 70 fish for the weight and I was very pleased with how it had all panned out as that was the top weight on day one.
On day two I drew peg 47, where the lake narrows down and it is only three feet deep midway across, at a distance of 30 yards.
This was always going to be a feeder job and I rigged up my 10ft Preston Mini carp rod with the red tip, teamed it up with a reel loaded with 6lb Direct Mono, and I then used a small feeder with a foot-long tail of 0.15mm Power Line and a size 18 PR36 hook, with a Korum Quickstop and a piece of sweetcorn mounted on the hair.
It was Sonu Supercrush Green groundbait that I used through the feeder, and regular casting paid dividends as I steadily caught and ended up with 15 fish up to 3lbs for a weight of 37lb.
That, together with my Day One weight, gave me an aggregate of 164lb, enough to take the overall winner’s cheque for £340.
If you like bream fishing, try Sonu’s Supercrush Green – skimmers and slabs love it and my results are a testament to that fact.
