spacer Make The Most of Your Sonu Fin Perfect Micro Pellets With Better Preparation - Lee Kerry   14 DECEMBER 2009
spacer spacer spacer

Everybody seems to have their own way of preparing feed pellets but I think it is especially important in the winter months to make sure that your micro pellets are spot-on - and I'd like to share a few tips on how I always prepare my Sonubaits Fin Perfect pellets.

In a nutshell, I always soak mine overnight as this ensures the pellets are completely soft while retaining their shape. I get a bowl or similar vessel, which allows me to spread the pellets out evenly, and I then carefully add water from a water butt in my garden, to which I add a tiny amount of liquid Scopex.
The water just covers the pellets, which are left overnight. when I return to them next morning they have become a solid block, but you can then break the 'block' in your fingers and the pellets separate.
I then add some dry F1 groundbait and this separates and coats them nicely. I use one of the Preston 'Hair' landing nets, with the ultra-fine mesh to then riddle the excess groundbait off the pellets and they are ready to use.
Some anglers prefer to immerse the pellets in water for a couple of minutes, then drain and use, but I disagree with this technique because, although the pellet is soft on the outside, it remains hard in the middle, so taking the time to get them right really is vital.
A properly softened 2mm Sonubaits Fin Perfect Micro Pellet essentially is nearer to a 3mm size when softened and fluffed up. Because they carry extra weight from their overnight soaking, you can loosefeed a few with a catapult, or even put on on the point of your hook to try to tempt a bite.
I even carry out the same preparation technique with my 4mm Sonubaits Fin Perfect feed pellets, and I'd strongly advise readers of this blog to give my way a go. You know it makes sense!
