Monday evening l headed back to Frensham with rudd on my mind but on arrival noticed that the wind was changing from an easterly to a westerly and straight away knew things might be tough. True to form the rudd did a disappearing act and only two of around a pound came up till midnight along with five tench.
Grabbing a few hours sleep l was up at around 5am as Onlinefishing.tv were coming down to create a video called ‘The Session’ a series of videos that are exclusive to paying customers. Once six are made they are going to be compiled onto a video that can be bought. Luckily after a slow start the swim livened up as tench after tench fell to my double maggot offered waggler style over a bed of Sonubaits Supercrush Green. By the time 9-30am arrived I’d netted nineteen tench, the best an upper six-pound female, not bad for four hours fishing!
Wednesday Alan Stagg and my brother joined me at Frensham, however the rudd were thin on the ground and the bites were few and far between. I fished hard up until midnight for just four bites. The first was missed then three on the trot and 11-20pm produced three good rudd, the best 2lb 3oz 8drams. The others fared the same but it was agreed that the changeable wind was having a detrimental effect on sport and we all headed home in the early hours.
Friday it was an early start and back to the ‘great pond’ to complete an article for Anglers Mail. The wind was all over the place, as was the fishing and it seemed that everyone was struggling, in fact most were struggling for bites. I put my knowledge of the water into action and extracted four tench from the short three-hour session but it was obvious that the tench had other things on their minds.
I’m now off to Cuba for a couple of non-angling weeks. It looks like whilst I’m away there is going to be a heat wave, so lm probably not going to miss too much.
Tight lines and catch up soon.
