Anglers in the North West who know me well also know that I am not what you would call a paste angler. But that's all changing now thanks to Sonubaits' amazing new Fibre Paste, which I have been using since the weather started to warm up, in order to help me put some match-winning catches together.
It's such a versatile bait, the new Sonubaits Fibre Paste, and I am convinced that at certain times of the year the various colours it comes in will all play their part. Right now, though, I have been using the natural colour variety, and I had a fourth place finish in a match at Bannister House Fishery last week with 75lb, with a proportion of the fish coming to Sonubaits' Fibre Paste, fished on the tip, hair-rigged.
I had been fishing with pellets and corn on the tip, but I noticed how much quicker the bites came when I used a piece of Sonubaits' Fibre Paste on the hook.
I have also had some success with Fibre Paste when fishing down the edge in the margins. I tend to use a biggish hook, such as a Preston Innovations PR28 in a size 14. I don't roll the paste into a conker or ball, I just tear a piece between thumb and forefinger off, and hook it on.
The great thing about Fibre Paste is its versatility. You can lift and drop your rig on the pole in full confidence that the paste will stay on the hook. you can confidently use it on the waggler, and on the feeder. Just one little tip when hair-rigging is to use a Korum Quick Stop as usual, and mould the Fibre Paste around the Quick Stop. Give some a try this summer. If I can be convinced about its fish-catching properties, then it deserves some attention!
