I've been targeting carp at the Passies Pond fishery in recent weeks and have scored well, picking up money on every trip using Sonu Tigerfish as a Method feeder groundbait.
While a lot of fish have been showing at Passies to pole-fished luncheon meat, I have found a few fish on each trip using dead red maggots buried inside a ball of Sonu Tigerfish.
The rod I use is the Preston Mini Carp 10ft, teamed with a Preston Inception 3000-size match reel loaded with 8lb Preston Pro-Max line. The feeder is finished off with a short hooklength of 0.21mm Preston Powerline, with a strong PR38 hook at the business end.
Generally I mix my Sonu Tigerfish groundbait up the night before the match, using a bucket and a drill, adding water until I am happy with the consistency.
I find I usually have to add a little more water in the morning as the fishmeal and crushed tigernut mixture absorbs a lot of water, but there is naturally occuring sugar in tigernuts, which means you get a sticky Method mix, which is great if you are casting out and waiting ten minutes for a bite. At least you know your feeder will have some bait still around it for when a carp comes along investigating.
I also love the original Sonu Match Method Mix groundbait, which is brilliant when you are in and out every three minutes. But for when you have to wait longer for a bite, I recommend you check out Sonu Tigerfish groundbait. It does what it says on the packaging!
