The groundbait that’s been in my carryall this spring and summer, covering virtually all my needs and doing the business is Sonubaits' new S Pellet Groundbait.
The S Pellet Groundbait is made from crushed expanders and, because it is so light and fine, it can be used in a number of different ways.
You can mix it light, so that it almost floats and explodes in a slow falling cloud through your peg - ideal for F1s, which love it. Or, if bigger carp are on the menu, you can mix it in a ratio of 3:1 with Fin Perfect Mix 1, for Method feeder work.
I recently took a group of 10 lads to Larford for a corporate day and they all bagged up, and I showed them the way I would do it, using the Method feeder. I mixed three bags of S Pellet Groundbait to one bag of Fin Perfect Mix 1, and lobbed the feeder 15 yards out.
The fish were going crazy for the S Pellet Groundbait, so much so that F1s were jumping out as soon as the feeder hit the water.
I used my Preston 10ft Mini Carp rod and a Korum Carp Feeder, with a four-inch hook length and a single dead red maggot on a size 16 PR32 hook.
The bites were savage from these Larford F1s, which have now reached an average weight of a pound-and-a-half. It was a case of "Hang on to your rods!"
When it comes to mixing the S Pellet Groundbait, I would recommend that you mix it the night before your session, as it does absorb a lot of water.
Incidentally, S Pellet Groundbait also makes a superb paste. To make paste, put water in the tub and then add the groundbait - don’t do it the other way round, as you would if knocking up a groundbait mix.
Give it a go - fish love it, nor can they resist the S Pellets Feed pellets, especially when you fish with a banded pellet in the summer.
