spacer Enjoy Big Summer Weights With Sonubaits’ One To One Paste - Team DELCAC   10 MAY 2010
spacer spacer spacer

One To One Paste is the latest weapon to be added to the ever-expanding Sonubaits range – and I cannot wait to start putting it to good use in summer matches.

There is nothing more exciting than fishing paste, seeing the float bury and elastic pour from the pole tip as a fish bolts away.

A lot of anglers shy away from paste fishing but the new Sonu One To One paste means it has never been easier to mix it right and get the results you want – more fishin the net.

To mix the paste you add one measure of the paste groundbait to one measure of water – nothing could be simpler. This summer I will be focusing my efforts on it and from having played about with a batch I know it will work well. It is so good that you can even lift and drop with it, without any fear it has come off the hook.

While on the subject of paste fishing, I’ve written down a list of tips to help you become better at it.

1.    Floats . I try to use Durafloat patterns by Preston in a 4 x 12 or 4 x 14 size. I try not to use any shot on the line, instead using the paste to pull the float down to the right position.

2.    Six metres from the bank is usually the best distance at which to fish with paste.

3.    You need a good strong, sharp hook for paste fishing and my favourite is the Preston PR21 in a size 12.

4.    I like to fish a direct line with no hooklength when paste fishing. When targeting big carp I tend to use Preston Powerline in 0.17mm diameter, teamed with a 15H Hollo Preston elastic. When smaller carp are the target I like to use Preston Powerline in 0.15mm diameter, teamed to a 13H Hollo elastic by Preston.

5.    Often there is no need to strike. If you do strike just a firm, steady lift upwards is enough. More often than not, fish will hook themselves as they suck in the paste and hook and elastic rips from the pole tip.
