Supercrush f1 groundbait is rapidly gaining a reputation for being an excellent groundbait, not only for F1’s and carp but for bream also. With this in mind I headed off to a small local lake for a bream session to put the groundbait to the test.

When you open the bag you instantly see why bream would find the groundbait so attractive. It has a lovely sweet aroma to it which bream love and when it is mixed it creates a very inactive mix which bream also prefer. Often with bream mixes it is a good idea to mix the bait the night before the session but with supercrush F1 there is no need. For the session I had one bag of supercrush, a tin of pineapple corn, 1 pint of casters and a pint each of bronze and red maggots. My rig was a simple open-end feeder rig on a 6-inch running loop to an 18-inch hooklength.
I added no lose feed to the groundbait as I was unsure how well the bream were feeding. This enabled me to up or lower the feed content as desired.
I clipped up to a spot about 30yd out and made about 10 casts with the feeder just to put a small carpet of groundbait down. I then re-cast about every 10 minutes to build up a nice bed of feed simply adding a few casters and maggots to the feeder each cast.
A tip when clipping up is to point your rod straight up as the feeder lands then drop the rod to the water. This means the feeder hits the same spot each time and falls straight to the bottom. If you allow the feeder to swing to the bottom on tight line bait can fall from the feeder and go all over the place. This is a good tip when fishing quite deep pegs.
The bream were on the feed within a couple of casts and bites were soon coming steadily, although they were not feeding heavily as bites came much faster with fewer loose offerings in the feeder. After a bit of trial and error the preferred hookbait of the day was 3 red maggots on a size 14 with just a couple of fish coming to single grains of corn. The fish fed steadily throughout the session apart from one quiet spell when a brutal NE wind picked up - but the bream were soon back on the feed when the wind dropped.
I ended the session with just shy of 50lb of bream proving that supercrush F1 is not only a good carp feed but also a very highly attractive bream groundbait.
