I had the good fortune to win my section in a Sensas International Rules team final at Woodlands View – and I used a loose mix of the brand-new Sonu Tigerfish groundbait to help me achieve it.
In these Sensas matches, fishmeal-based groundbait is allowed and I opted to use Tigerfish, from Sonu, because it contains particles of tiger nuts. I fed it as an optional line where I could cup in a cadpot full of the groundbait, fed loose, with to or three maggots in it, with single maggot hookbait. Doing this I was able to catch a few bonus F1s and skimmers.
Mixing the Tigerfish groundbait is something I’d like to mention. I mix it when I get up on the morning of a match, mixing it 50/50 with water, so that it is over-wetted. Because of the tiger nuts, the groundbait sets like a gloop, and I leave it to settle for a couple of hours, before pushing it through a fine riddle. After riddling I find its texture is absolutely perfect.
Tigerfish is a versatile groundbait and one which will catch a lot of anglers a lot of fish in the coming months.
But I think its versatility should not be underestimated as I feel it will give users an edge over anglers using pure fishmeal groundbaits.
