Monday came and lm off to a Cemex Yateley water again in the hope of a Grass Carp. The forecast is for a big storm and in my experience once this is over most lakes switch on so full of confidence.
Tonight l've decided again to have one rod aimed at Crucians, one for Grass carp and one that has the chance of picking either up. Unfortunately it was the crucian rod that was picked up in the middle of a torrential downpour and although l managed to coax a grass carp around the 30lbs mark into the landing net on just a 4lbs bottom, it decided to explode once in and during a split second of white water and foam the grassie’s bid for freedom was rewarded, leaving me scratching my head and well cheesed off! A missed screamer to the carp rod meant it was just not my night and l left even more determined to return and catch one.
Thursday a return was made but the change in temperature had put the fish down and nothing fishy happened, even the mosquitoes were absent!
Feeling that the lake was not at its best l returned to the river of big eels and at last light was rewarded with another, this time somewhat smaller thou. Constant bleeping and aborted runs kept me awake all night so at 5am l retreated home in need of a few hours sleep but not before taking a few perch up to 2lbs on the lobworms.
