For the second time Rinko caught an official Dutch Barbel record, he did it in the year 2007 with a barbel 85cm and 14lbs this was a record in length and weight at that time, and now he caught a barbel again with a length of 85cm but with a new Dutch weight record: 15 lb 9 oz.
He caught this Dutch monster barbel on his favourite river Ijssel on November 14th 2010.
Honestly he said this catch is a bit un-Dutch because  you only expect these heavy barbel in English waters. The coming years will surely produce bigger and heavier examples here in the Netherlands.


The hair was mounted with a Spicy Sausage flavoured Sonubaits Barbel & Carp 11 mm pellet, and caught this monster on a Korum S3 hook size 12. The bait is made up of 2kg Sonubaits hemp& hali crush and 1kg 4mm halibut pellets and the whole of it saturated with Sonubaits barbel & carp liquid enhancer in a hemp & spicy sausage flavour. He was using a Korum large mesh feeder 120 grams. The rod that did this job: Korum Neoteric quiver.

Because he had registered the catch with photo’s confirming the length and weight (digital scales) and even the length and width of the measuring board, the BNRZ (this translates as Dutch coarse fishing records commission) was convened and they decided to issue an official certification of the catch. In cooperation with Berry Lucas (OVB), Dr.Ir. Leo Nagelkerke (Wageningen university) and Erwin Winter (RIVO) the biologic background and where possible available scientific support will be constued.
Next to Berry Lucas,Dr.Ir.Leo Nagelkerke and Erwin Winter the BNRZ also includes Bertus Rozemeijer (predatory fish specialist), Arnout Terlouw (specimen hunter),Kees Steinvoort ( member of IGFA and a specialist in record data) Adele Puts (editorial secretary and coordinator of The best Ten), Parry Vermeulen (editor of Beet magazine) and chairman Pierre Bronsgeest(head editor of Beet magazine).

After a long period of waiting he finally got the positive announcement that this Barbel was officially recognised as a Dutch record regarding its weight.
