After finally landing a fish from my new water I was keen to get back especially as I had heavily baited the area before leaving.

On arrival I was pleased that the swim looked un-fished and even happier that the spot was huge and glowing. The rods were placed on the spots with the amended rigs and followed by the ever successful Carp Feed Pellets.

Whilst setting everything else up I had belting run. On picking up the rod I felt as though things had changed and I was now confident that this one would also find its way into the net. And it did, another gorgeous common, a little bigger than the other one.

So now I was buzzing, full of confidence and if I could get a bite that quickly then surely another chance was possible. Possible, yes. Did it happen over the next few days? No. It just goes to show how important timing is in fishing and life in general, which is why a lot of full time anglers appear to do better than I feel they actually do.

Always measure your success by your own standards and don’t get disheartened if you can’t get in the ‘going’ swim. Go and find your own. And when you do, keep things quiet, until you have had the best you are going to get from the area.
